KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Josh Altmann went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer, but the Lincoln Saltdogs were swept for the first time this year in a 9-3 loss to the Kansas City Monarchs at Legends Field on Wednesday night.

Altmann hit his second homer of the year, and Lincoln’s seventh of the series, but the ‘Dogs (11-6) were outhit 14-6 in their third consecutive loss.

Kansas City (13-6) opened the scoring with a two-run single from Gabby Guerrero in the 1st inning, and Matt Adams hit a three-run homer in the 3rd.

Eddy Martinez cut into the deficit with a two-out, two-run single in the 4th, but Kansas City added to the lead with JC Escarra’s solo homer in the 4th.

David Thompson’s RBI triple and Pete Kozma’s RBI double made it 8-2 in the 5th inning, and Altmann’s solo homer made it 8-3 in the 6th. The Monarchs added to the lead when Jan Hernandez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 8th.

Hunter Clanin went 1-for-4 with a double and extended his on-base streak to 16, while Welington Dotel struck out four times and his seven-game hitting streak came to an end.

Garett Delano allowed eight runs on 4.1 innings, while Steffon Moore extended his scoreless innings run to 10.2 after retiring five more batters in relief. Carson Lance tossed a scoreless 7th inning, while Brandon Cunniff allowed only his second run of the year in the 8th.

The ‘Dogs will now spend Thursday on the road traveling to Winnipeg to open a three-game series with the Goldeyes on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at the conclusion of Hail Varsity Radio on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
