WINNIPEG, Manitoba – Josh Altmann hit a two-run homer, but the ‘Dogs gave up a run in the 7th and 8th innings of a 7-5 loss to the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Shaw Park on Friday night.

Altmann’s homer gave the Lincoln (17-13) a 2-1 lead in the 4th inning. Winnipeg (16-15) took a 5-2 lead when Deon Stafford Jr. hit a grand slam in the 6th inning, but Randy Norris hit a two-run single before Ryan Long’s RBI single tied the game in the 7th.

Raul Navarro led off the bottom of the 7th and hit a line drive over Randy Norris’s head that resulted in a go-ahead, inside-the-park home run, and Kevin Lachance added to the lead with a solo homer in the 8th.

Greg Minier allowed five runs – four earned – over six innings, while David Zoz took the first loss of his Saltdogs career after allowing the 7th-inning run. Jonathan Cheshire gave up one run in one inning, and the ‘Dogs lost a third consecutive game for only the second time this year.

Lincoln won the first four games of the season series, but the Goldeyes have now won three straight.

Justin Byrd extended his hitting streak to seven with a 4th-inning single, and Norris now has hits in six straight.

The ‘Dogs and Goldeyes continue the three-game series on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
