LINCOLN, Nebraska – C Luke Roskam hit a two-run homer and extended his on-base streak to 35 games, but the ‘Dogs lost 6-3 to the Chicago Dogs on Tuesday night at Haymarket Park
Roskam’s two-run homer got Lincoln (34-35) on the board in the bottom of the 1st after Chicago (37-32) scored four in the top-half to open the scoring, but the ‘Dogs dropped a third consecutive game after winning the first two games against the Kane County Cougars on the homestand.
Chicago scored first on a two-run single from C Ryan Lidge before DH Dylan Rosa later tripled in two more.
Roskam hit a two-run homer in the 1st and DH Yanio Perez later followed with a solo homer – his first game back after missing four straight with a heel injury. Chicago led 4-3 at the end of the inning.
The game remained 4-3 until the fifth inning. LF Matt Bottcher made it 5-3 with an RBI double and 1B Luke Mangieri added a run with a two-out double to make it 6-3.
RHP Josh Roeder allowed six runs on nine hits with three walks and six strikeouts across five innings. RHP R.J. Freure made went two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, while RHP Carter Hope went two scoreless innings in relief.
Chicago starter LHP Trevor Lane allowed three runs over five innings, but the bullpen combined to throw four scoreless innings with only two hits allowed. RHP Brian Schlitter picked up his 13th save with a scoreless 9th inning.
Roskam’s on-base streak is the longest active in the league and he’s now four game shy of tying Josh Allen for the longest on-base streak in the league this season.
