SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Forrestt Allday reached four times with a homer, double and three RBIs, but the Lincoln Saltdogs gave away an early lead for a second straight night in a 9-6 loss to the Sioux City Explorers at Mercy Field on Saturday night.
Allday opened the scoring with a solo homer in the 1st, and Lincoln (8-8) scored three more times on two sacrifice flies and an RBI single from Justin Byrd in the 2nd.
Carson Lance allowed a run in the 2nd, but then allowed a two-run homer to Jose Sermo and a run-scoring bunt from Chase Harris to tie the game in the 4th.
Sioux City (11-5) went back-to-back with a three-run homer from Sermo and a solo shot from Sebastian Zawada in the 5th. Down 8-4, Forrestt Allday doubled in Justin Byrd in the 6th, but Zawada delivered another RBI on a single in the 7th.
Ryan Long hit a solo homer in the 9th – the first hit allowed by Matt Pobereyko this year – but the ‘Dogs struck out for a season-high 16 times in their second consecutive loss.
Edgar Corcino had a single and a run scored, while Curt Smith went 1-for-4 with a single and a walk. Justin Byrd had three hits with a double, a walk and a run scored.
