WINNIPEG, Manitoba – C Luke Roskam extended his on-base streak to 40 with a walk in the 4th inning, but the ‘Dogs lost 2-1 to the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Shaw Park on Tuesday night.
Roskam now owns the longest on-base streak in the league and Lincoln’s longest since at least 2010, but the ‘Dogs lost for the third time in four games on the road trip.
Winnipeg (31-45) opened the scoring on an a two-out double from RF Max Murphy in the 3rd inning.
The Goldeyes added to the lead when 1B Hidekel Gonzales was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 5th inning.
Lincoln (37-38) got within a run on a solo homer from LF Luis Roman – his second of the year – in the 8th inning.
1B Jason Rogers was hit by a pitch with one out in the 9th inning, and with PR Zane Zurbrugg reaching second on a ground out from DH Yanio Perez the ‘Dogs had a runner in scoring position with two outs. CF Nick Anderson grounded out to end the game.
LHP Joey Matulovich tossed seven scoreless innings for Winnipeg, improving to 4-8 on the year. LHP John Bezdicek pitched for the first time since July 25th and allowed two runs over 5 and 1/3 innings.
For Lincoln, RHP Matt Cronin tossed 1 and 2/3 scoreless innings while LHP David Zoz went 1-2-3 with two strikeouts in the 8th inning.
The ‘Dogs fell to 12-8 in one-run games and Winnipeg’s win was only the second for a home team in the ‘Dogs/Goldeyes season series this year (2-6).
The series continues on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with pregame coverage starting at 6:05 on KFOR FM 101.5/1240 AM.
