KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Josh Altmann went 2-for-4 with a double and a homer, but the Saltdogs fell 11-3 to the Kansas City Monarchs at Legends Field on Saturday night.
Altmann had his team-best 16th multi-hit game of the year, and hit a double in the 3rd before his solo homer to go back-to-back with Forrestt Allday in the 5th. Lincoln (20-20) struck out just twice in the game, but fell for the first time in five games at Kansas City this year.
Kansas City (23-17) hit three homers off of Adolfo Espinoza, who allowed eight runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings in his Saltdogs debut.
Carson Lance allowed just one run over 3.1 relief innings, and Josh Norwood allowed two runs in the 9th.
David Vidal went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, and Ryan Long had a double and a run scored. Allday hit a solo homer – his second of the series – and Justin Byrd walked.
The ‘Dogs and Monarchs will wrap up the four-game series on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
