KANSAS CITY, Kansas – John Bezdicek allowed three runs over five innings, and the Lincoln Saltdogs were shut out 7-0 in the series finale against Kansas City on Sunday afternoon.

Bezdicek went five innings for the second consecutive start, but Kansas City’s Matt Hall tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just two hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts.

The Monarchs (49-31) struck first on David Thompson’s sacrifice fly in the 1st inning. Gio Brusa’s RBI single made it 2-0 in the 4th, and a bases-loaded walk to Casey Gillaspie made it 3-0 in the 5th.

Jacob Robson’s grand slam off of R.J. Freure made it 7-0 in the 6th inning, and the Monarchs held on to win the finale and take the series after Lincoln won the opener Friday night.

Jonathan Cheshire pitched a scoreless 8th inning and Josh Norwood tossed a scoreless 9th.

The Saltdogs will have Monday off before opening a three-game series in Sioux City on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
