LINCOLN, Nebraska – Matt Goodheart singled and walked twice, Garett Delano allowed two runs in five innings, but the ‘Dogs lost 4-2 to the Kansas City Monarchs at Haymarket Park on Friday night.

Goodheart singled to put the tying run at the plate with Lincoln down 4-1 in the 9th inning, and Hunter Clanin singled in Welington Dotel to make it 4-2.

Patrick Caulfield then hit into a 3-6 double play and Eddy Martinez struck out, and Lincoln (25-24) dropped a fourth straight game to Kansas City (33-17).

Caulfield gave the ‘Dogs a 1-0 lead with a sacrifice fly in the 2nd inning, but the Monarchs tied it with JC Escarra’s RBI single in the 4th.

Kansas City then hit three solo homers – Jan Hernandez in the 5th, and Casey Gillaspie in the 6th and 8th – and held on to win for the sixth time in seven games in June.

Garett Delano allowed two runs on five hits over five innings, walking three and striking out seven. Matt Cronin allowed his first earned run as a Saltdog in the 6th, while Carson Lance allowed one run over two innings. Tucker Smith – pitching for the first time since May 30th – tossed a scoreless 9th inning.

Dotel doubled to extend his hitting streak to seven, while Goodheart now has hits in four straight.
