LINCOLN, Nebraska – Drew Devine went 3-for-4 with three singles, but the ‘Dogs lost 8-2 against the Gary SouthShore RailCats at Haymarket Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Devine had three of Lincoln’s six hits, but the RailCats (29-42) won a second straight game to open the series.

Gary SouthShore opened the scoring when Sherman Graves hit a two-run homer in the 4th inning.

The RailCats extended the lead with six in the 5th. Michael Woodworth drove in two with a double and Victor Nova worked a bases-loaded walk. Graves then drove in his third and fourth runs of the game with a two-run double, and Thomas Greely made it 8-0 with a sacrifice fly.

Lincoln (32-39) got on the board in the 7th inning. Hunter Clanin reached on an error that scored Randy Norris, and Ryan Long later scored Devine with a fielder’s choice.

John Bezdicek allowed five runs – three earned – over four innings, while Elijah Johnson allowed three runs in one inning.

Carson Lance pitched for the first time in 15 days and tossed a scoreless 6th inning, and Matt Cronin faced the minimum in the 7th and 8th innings.

Matt Goodheart made his pitching debut with a 1-2-3 9th inning.

The series concludes on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
