LINCOLN, Nebraska – RF Connor Panas went 3-for-5 with his 17th homer, but the Saltdogs lost 9-3 to the Kansas City Monarchs at Haymarket Park on Wednesday night.

Kansas City (52-36) opened the scoring in the 3rd inning when SS L.J. Hatch made it 2-0 with his third homer of the year. 3B Taylor Snyder later added a run on a solo homer in the 4th.

Lincoln (42-47) loaded the bases with nobody out in the 3rd but didn’t score after a strikeout from Panas and a double play from 1B Yanio Perez.

The ‘Dogs got a run back in the 6th inning when 2B Nate Samson hit a fly ball to right field that RF Micker Adolfo dropped. Samson was credited with an RBI with the official judgement that the error would have been a sacrifice fly.

RHP Zach Keenan earned another quality start, allowing three runs over six innings with three walks and five strikeouts.

RHP Carter Hope came on for the 7th and the Monarchs scored four times. DH Chris Herrmann drove in a pair with a single – two of his three RBIs on the night. Later, Adolfo extended the lead with a two-run homer.

The ‘Dogs got two runs back in the bottom half of the 7th with Panas’s two-run homer.

The Monarchs added two in the 9th on a solo homer from Herrmann and a bases-loaded walk from Hatch.

The series continues Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 on KFOR FM 101.5/1240 AM.
