LINCOLN, Nebraska – Austin Pettibone tossed a pair of scoreless innings, but the ‘Dogs managed just five hits in a 4-2 loss to the Milwaukee Milkmen at Haymarket Park on Wednesday night.
The ‘Dogs struck first in the 3rd inning when Randolph Oduber scored Christian Ibarra with a fielder’s choice, but the Milkmen took the lead on Garrett Copeland’s two-out, two-run homer in the 4th.
The Milkmen scored twice more with a two-out rally in the 5th. Cesar Valera walked before Teodoro Martinez hit a double down the left-field line. Valera eventually scored on a wild pitch before Jose Rosario drove in his second run of the series with an RBI infield single
Lincoln added an unearned run in the 5th after Curt Smith scored on Cody Regis’s two-out RBI double. Smith reached on a two-out single and advanced on an error from the left-fielder Adam Walker.
Nick Tepesch tossed six innings and allowed four runs – all with two outs – while Tyson Cronin had a scoreless 0.2 innings and Tyler Anderson retired the only batter he faced.
The ‘Dogs have now lost four of five to the Milkmen in the season series, and Lincoln has dropped six of the last seven games. The Saltdogs are now two games under .500 for the first time this year.
The ‘Dogs wrap up the three-game series with the Milkmen on Thursday night. First pitch time is set for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
