LINCOLN, Nebraska – Justin Byrd was hit by a pitch for a franchise-record three times, but the Lincoln Saltdogs were shut out for a second consecutive time in a 5-0 loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries at Haymarket Park on Friday night.

Byrd was hit in the 3rd, 5th and 7th innings to extend his on-base streak to a season-high 34 games, but Lincoln (45-39) lost consecutive games for the first time since July 12th and 13th against Winnipeg.

John Richy allowed five runs on 11 hits over six innings, while Jake Hohensee, David Zoz and Carter Hope combined for three shutout innings in relief.

The ‘Dogs had just five hits and left 10 runners on base. Forrestt Allday had the game’s only extra-base hit, while David Vidal, Edgar Corcino, Curt Smith and Josh Altmann each had singles.

Down 2-0 in the 3rd inning, the ‘Dogs loaded the bases with nobody out, but Ryan Long struck out, Josh Altmann lined out and Curt Smith fouled out to end the inning.

Sioux Falls (34-51) won for the third time in four games at Haymarket Park this year, but Lincoln still has six wins in 10 games against the Canaries.

The series continues on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
