LINCOLN — Ryan Wiggins homered again and Shairon Martis delivered another strong start as the Saltdogs (21-29) topped the Grand Prairie AirHogs (18-33) 5-2 in front of 2,996 fans at Haymarket Park Monday afternoon, completing a four-game sweep to win their sixth straight.
Wiggins’ two-run bomb to left in the second inning extended Lincoln’s lead to 3-0, and completed a six at-bat stretch for the rookie catcher during which he amassed 10 RBI.
Martis (4-1) pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits while fanning five and walking two to earn the win. Casey Collins and Conor Spink pitched scoreless innings of middle relief and Marshall Schuler locked down the ninth for his first save back with the club.
Brian Joynt went 2-for-4 with a double, run and RBI to extend his hit streak to 10 games.
Blake Oliver (4-4) pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on nine hits to suffer the loss, as Grand Prairie wraps its Central division road trip with seven straight losses.
Lincoln completed its first four-game sweep of an opponent this season – its second overall – and its first ever series sweep of the AirHogs to extend their win streak to a season-high six games.
