SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota – The Saltdogs and Sioux Falls Canaries got through three innings before heavy rain forced the game’s suspension with the ‘Dogs leading 7-5 at The Birdcage on Sunday afternoon.

The teams will resume the suspended game on Monday evening at 5:05 p.m. The game will be played as scheduled, but the final game of the series will be shortened to seven innings and completed after the conclusion of Game 1.

The ‘Dogs struck for two early runs on Curt Smith’s two-run single in the 1st inning, and Tyler Moore hit a solo homer to add to the lead in the 2nd.

After the Canaries scored twice in the 2nd, Lincoln added four more runs in the 3rd. Both Smith and Josh Mazzola hit sacrifice flies before Randolph Oduber hit his first homer since June 28th – a two-run shot to make it 7-2.

The Canaries rallied for three runs in the 3rd before heavy rain began to fall and the playing surface was deemed unplayable for the rest of the afternoon.

A join-in-progress broadcast can be heard at 6:00 p.m. on Monday evening after the conclusion of Hail Varsity Radio on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.

The Saltdogs are playing their 19th season in Lincoln. All ticket and promo information can be found at saltdogs.com, and follow the ‘Dogs on Twitter/Instagram @saltdogsball.
