LINCOLN – The Saltdogs plated four runs in the bottom of the first, then needed to come from behind with three in the fifth to topple the Sioux City Explorers 8-6 in an exhibition game at Haymarket Park Thursday night.
1B Dennis Raben led the Saltdogs offensively, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBI. Lincoln stole three bases (Brad Payne, Matt Forgatch, Mike Provencher) in the victory.
RHP Ben Henry got the start for the ‘Dogs, going two innings, allowing a run on three hits while striking out four.
After a difficult season defensively in 2012, the Saltdogs have been razor sharp in the diamond through their first 18 innings of exhibition play 2013, keeping a clean sheet with zero errors.
The Saltdogs host the inaugural BORDER WARS triple-header this evening at Haymarket Park beginning at 4:05 p.m. Lincoln takes on Kansas City T-Bones in the first game, followed by Kansas City vs. Wichita Wingnuts in the second, and then Lincoln vs. Wichita in the finale at approximately 8 p.m. All games will be seven innings.
Tickets for season-ticket holders to BORDER WARS are free, all other seats in the house are $5 for the entire three-game, 21-inning bonanza.
