LINCOLN, Nebraska – John Bezdicek didn’t allow an earned run over six-plus innings, and the ‘Dogs broke out for a 13-2 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Haymarket Park on Thursday night.

Bezdicek earned his third win with just two unearned runs allowed on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts, and the Saltdogs (20-22) avoided the sweep with their largest win of the season.

The ‘Dogs opened the scoring on a two-out RBI single from 1B Yanio Perez in the 1st inning. CF Nick Anderson added a second run with an RBI single in the 3rd.

Lincoln broke out for six runs in the 5th inning. The scoring began with a bases-loaded walk from 3B Will Kengor before Perez added two more on a single. 2B Nate Samson plated two more with a single and C Marshall Awtry made it 8-0 with an RBI single of his own.

The ‘Dogs then scored five more in the 6th. Both LF Zane Zurbrugg and Samson worked bases-loaded walks before two runs scored on two separate wild pitches and CF Connor Panas made it 13-0 with an RBI single.

The Goldeyes (18-25) scored a pair of unearned runs in the 7th inning, but RHP Walter Borkovich recorded the final nine outs with five strikeouts and picked up his first save.

Panas extended his hitting streak to eight games, while Anderson and SS Drew Devine extended their streaks to six. All nine Saltdogs recorded a hit and the ‘Dogs worked eight walks as a team.

The ‘Dogs become the Lincoln Swiftdogs on Friday night with the first of a three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. Limited seats remain and tickets can be purchased at saltdogs.com.
