FARGO, N.D. — Tommy Collaro blasted his third home run in as many games but the Saltdogs (15-23) were routed by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (20-19) 12-4 in front of 4,179 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Thursday afternoon.
Two RedHawks had three-hit days, two went for four hits and Jon Gaston belted home runs in his final two at-bats to lead the way as Fargo swept Lincoln for the second time this season.
Alex Caldera (6-1) pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out two and walking three to earn the win. Tommy Palica (1-4) made his return from the disabled list, going five innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out five to take the loss.
Collaro drove in six runs this series, with three long balls, and now has five round trippers to lead the club’s list of active players.
Fargo-Moorhead committed a season-high six errors in the game, leading to one unearned run.
The ‘Dogs return home to Haymarket Park Friday night at 7:05 p.m. for the opener of a four-game series with Kansas City. Ryan Sheldon (3-2, 3.13) is slated to pitch for Lincoln. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
