LINCOLN, NE – The Lincoln Saltdogs announced today they activated left-handed pitcher Brian Smith from the Disabled List.  The Saltdogs released LHP Kyle Kinman.

Smith was placed on the DL on May 29th after pitching in six games at the start of the season.  The southpaw was 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA.  He struck out six batters over nine innings of work.  The Texan earned the win by tossing two shutout innings in the Saltdogs’ wild 11-10 comeback win over the Wichita Wingnuts on May 22nd.

Smith joined the Saltdogs late in the 2017 season.  He made two critical starts in the team’s final road trip and was 0-1 with a 4.62 ERA.  He went 5.2 innings in Lincoln’s division-clinching win over Gary SouthShore.

Kinman, an Omaha native, pitched in six games for the Saltdogs.  The former Bellevue University star tossed just 4.2 innings and gave up three earned runs on four hits to post a 5.79 ERA.  He walked eight batters compared to four strikeouts.  Kinman missed the 2017 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.  He spent three seasons with the Braves organization before joining the Saltdogs.

The Saltdogs (11-7) continue their series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (8-8) tonight at Haymarket Park.  First pitch is at 6:45 PM with coverage beginning at 6:15 PM on ESPN 101.5 FM 1480 AM and saltdogs.com/stream.
