Hughes begins his professional career with the Lincoln Saltdogs, in 2026.  A native of Seward, Nebraska, Hughes played collegiately for the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves, in Lincoln, for four years.

2025: Went 4-4 with a 5.12 ERA( 33 ER/58.0 IP) … appeared in 11 games and started 10 … had 62 strikeouts throughout the season  … kept opposing batters at .247 batting average
2024: Went 0-1 with a 12.34 ERA (16 ER/11.2 IP) … appeared in ten games for the P-Wolves … had 12 strikeouts throughout the season … opposing batters averaged .375 against him

2023: Missed the 2023 season due to injury.

2022: Earned his second varsity letter as a sophomore… appeared in eight games on the mound out of the bullpen… finished the season posting a 10.12 ERA in 10.2 innings… recorded eight strikeouts on the season… credited with a season high five strikeouts vs. Cornell College (3/10).

2021: Made four appearances out of the bullpen for the Prairie Wolves during his freshman season
