Sayer Diederich adds a local flare to the Lincoln Roster.  The native of Valley, Nebraska, played his high school ball at Elkhorn South.  The 6’1” 205-pound southpaw pitched two seasons for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in 2020 and 2021.  Diederich played his final year of college ball at NAIA national power, LSU-Shreveport in 2023, where he compiled a 5-0 record, striking out 63 batters in 51 innings pitched. Diedrich has spent the last two seasons in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

2025:  Appearing in ten games with one start, Diederich went 1-2 with a 3.29 ERA for the Delmarva Shorebirds (A-BAL) in the Carolina League.  In 27.1 innings he struck out 39 batters.  He also appeared in two games with one start for the Orioles in the Florida Complex League.  He was 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA, in 6.1 innings.  Diederich also appeared in seven games for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League, recording one save.  In 7.2 innings, he struck out ten batters.

2024: Diederich started the summer with the West Virginia Black Bears (Morgantown, West Virginia) in the MLB Draft League. He went 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA over 18 appearances. In 20.0 innings pitched, he struck out 20 batters. Diederich pitched in eight games for the Billings Mustangs (Independent; Billings, Montana) in the Pioneer League. He went 0-2 with a 12.08 ERA. With two starts, Diederich pitched 12.2 innings and struck out nine.

2023: Played in 17 games for the LSU-Schreveport Pilots in the Red River Athletic Conference. Diederich went 5-0 with a 4.94 ERA. He started 12 games, pitching 51.0 innings and struck out 63 batters, and earned Second Team All-RRAC Honors.

2022: Played College Summer-League ball for West Virginia. He went 0-1 with a 15.43 ERA. In three games, Diederich recorded one save. In 2.1 innings pitched, he struck out two batters.

2021: Diederich pitched in three games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, in the Big Ten Conference. He was 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA, pitching 2.0 innings and striking out two.

2020: Pitched in three games during the Covid-shortened college season, for Nebraska. He was 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA. In 3.2 innings, Diederich struck out two batters. In the summer, he played for the Wisconsin Woodchucks (Wausau, Wisconsin) in the Northwoods League. Diederich went 0-2 with an 18.00 ERA in four appearances, with three starts. He worked 9.0 innings and struck out eight. In addition, Diederich batted .227 with two doubles and two rbi’s, in eight games.
