Shumpert is another experienced infielder on the Saltdogs roster.  Beginning his 11th season of professional baseball, Shumpert comes to Lincoln after spending time in 2025 with the Sioux City Explorers and the Cleburne Railroaders, in the American Association.  Shumpert was selected in the MLB June Amateur Draft twice.  The first was in 2015, in the seventh round, to the Detroit Tigers, out of Highlands Ranch (CO) High School.  The second, was in the 28th round of the 2016 Draft, to the Atlanta Braves, out of San Jacinto College (TX).

2025:   Shumpert played in 71 games for the Sioux City Explorers, batting .209 with seven homeruns and 38 runs batted in and 21 stolen bases.  With the Cleburne Railroaders, Shumpert played in 17 games, while hitting .214 with one homerun and one rbi.

2024:   Played in 87 games for Sioux City, batting .267 with seven homeruns, 29 runs batted in, and a career-high, 40 stolen bases.

2023:   Shumpert played for the Wilmington Blue Rocks, in the South Atlantic League (High-A WSN).  In 42 games, he batted .168 with three homeruns and seven runs batted in.

2022:  Played in 91 games for the Railroaders, batting .265 with eight homeruns, 50 runs batted in and 29 stolen bases.

2021:   Shumpert spent time with the Lancaster Barnstormers, in the Atlantic League.  In 77 games, he batted .204 with one homerun and 22 runs batted in.  He also played for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, batting .216 over 16 games, with one homerun and six runs batted in.  During the winter, Shumpert played for Leones de Leon, in the Nicaraguan Winter League.  In eight games, he batted .355 with eleven hits and six rbi’s.

2020:  During the COVID season, Shumpert played for the Sussex County Miners, in the All-American Baseball Challenge.  He played 22 games and batted .315 with three homeruns and eleven runs batted in.

2019:   Shumpert played with the Trinidad Triggers, in the Pecos League.  He batted .377 in 30 games, with six homeruns, 23 runs batted in, and 24 stolen bases.  He also played ten games for Sussex County, in the Canadian-American Association.  He hit .087 with two hits and four runs scored.

2018:   Played in two games for the Gwinnett Stripers, in the International League (Triple-A – ATL).  He hit .167 with one hit.  Shumpert played in 48 games for the Danville Braves, in the Appalachian League (Rookie- ATL).  He batted .248 with two homeruns and 18 runs batted in.  During the winter, he played for the Adelaide Bite, in the Australian Baseball League.  He batted .288, in 39 games, with three homeruns and 15 runs batted in.

2017:   Shumpert played in 43 games for Danville, batting .216 with 29 hits and 14 runs batted in.

2016:   Began his professional career with the Braves, in the Gulf Coast League (Rookie – ATL).  In 26 games, he batted .189 with one homerun and seven runs batted in.
