Hughes is a right-handed starting pitcher who joins the Saltdogs after a trade with the Boise Hawks.  Hughes is in his second year of professional baseball after wrapping up his collegiate career at Loyola Marymount.

2026:  Hughes went 1-0 with four starts for the Boise Hawks, with a 5.40 ERA.  In 23.1 innings pitched, he struck out 26 batters.

2025:   He wrapped up his college career at Loyola Marymount by appearing in 17 games, with six starts.  Hughes was 1-3 with an 8.00 ERA.  In 27.0 innings pitched, he struck out 29 batters.  Hughes began his professional career with the Boise Hawks and went 5-3 with a 6.56 ERA.  In 13 starts, he pitched 60.1 innings and struck out 69 batters.

2024:   In his junior season for the Lions, Hughes was 0-0, with a 7.16 ERA.  He appeared in 21 games with one save.  In 16.1 innings, he struck out 26 batters.

2023:  Hughes spent his sophomore season with the Oregon Ducks.  He appeared in 13 games with a 0-0 record and a 4.15 ERA.  In 13.0 innings, he struck out 14 batters.  During the summer, Hughes played for the Santa Barbara Foresters, in the California Collegiate League.  He appeared in nine games and was 0-0 with a 3.09 ERA.  In 11.2 innings, he struck out twelve batters.

2022:   In his freshman season at Oregon, Hughes was 1-0 with a 6.60 ERA.  In eight games, he threw 15.0 innings.

2021:   During the summer, Hughes played for the Wenatchee Apple Sox, in the West Coast League.  He was 0-1 with a 3.95 ERA.  In eight games, he recorded five starts.  In 27.1 innings, he struck out 30 batters.
