Cortijo begins his seventh season of professional baseball, and first with the Lincoln Saltdogs, in 2026.  A 14th-round draft pick of the New York Yankees in the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft, the right-handed reliever comes to Lincoln after spending time in the Frontier, Mexican and Puerto Rican Winter Leagues, in 2025.

2025:   Cortijo appeared in 32 games for Capitales de Quebec, in the Frontier League.  He went 2-3, with a 3.38 ERA, with 15 saves over 34.2 innings pitched.  He also spent time with Pericos de Puebla, of the Mexican League.  He was 0-0, with an 8.31 ERA.  In five games, he pitched 4.2 innings.  During the winter, Cortijo played for Leones de Ponce, in the Puerto Rican Winter League.  He was 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA.  In 15 games, he pitched 13.1 innings.

2024:   He pitched in six games, all starts, for the Lexington Legends, in the Atlantic League.  He went 2-1 with a 4.18 ERA over 28.0 innings pitched.  In the winter, Cortijo appeared in nine games, with six starts, for Ponce.  He was 0-2 with a 4.18 ERA, in 28.0 innings pitched.

2023:   Appeared in 12 games for the Hudson Valley Renegades, in the South Atlantic League (High-A – NYY).  He was 4-1, with a 3.20 ERA.  In 19.2 innings, he struck out 25 batters.

2022:   Cortijo pitched in four games for Hudson Valley.  He was 0-0, with a 9.64 ERA with one save.  In 4.2 innings, he struck out seven batters.  He also pitched in 35 games for the Tampa Tarpons, in the Florida State League (A- NYY).  He was 5-1, with a 4.14 ERA, with three saves.  In 54.1 innings pitched, he struck out 59 batters.  During the winter, Cortijo pitched in 19 games for Ponce, going 3-3, with a 2.33 ERA, over 27.0 innings.

2021:   He appeared in six games, with one start, for Tampa, in the Low-A Southeast League.  Cortijo was 0-0, with a 6.10 ERA.  In 10.1 innings pitched, he struck out eleven batters.  He appeared in two games, with one start, for the Yankees, in the Florida Complex League.  He went 0-0, with a 13.50 ERA.  In 2.0 innings, he struck out three batters.  Cortijo also made eight appearances for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League, going 0-0, with a 5.00 ERA, while throwing 9.0 innings.

2020:   Cortijo played in four games for Atenienses de Manti, in the Puerto Rican Winter League.  He was 0-2, with an 8.59 ERA, while pitching 7.1 innings.

2019:   In 14 starts, he went 5-4 for the Charleston RiverDogs, in the South Atlantic League, (A- NYY) with a 3.45 ERA, in 73.0 innings pitched.

2018:   Cortijo threw 51.1 innings over ten appearances and nine starts for the Staten Island Yankees, in the New York-Pennsylvania League (Low-A – NYY).  He went 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA, while striking out 60 batters.

2017:  He appeared in ten games for Yankees East, in the Gulf Coast League (Rookie- NYY).  Cortijo was 1-0 with a 4.98 ERA, with one save.  In 21.2 innings, he struck out 25 batters.
