Before: In 2002, Corey was the 17th round pick of the Seattle Mariners, who sent him to Everett (A) in the Northwest League to begin his career. He spent all of 2003 with Wisconsin (A) where he hit .258 in 93 games as a second baseman and left fielder. It was his final season in pro ball to date. Corey played collegiately at Kansas in 1999 and then transferred to New Mexico St where he earned 1st-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors at shortstop in leading the Aggies to the league title.
