KANSAS CITY MOUNTS NINE RUNS EARLY IN ROUT

LINCOLN – The Kansas City T-Bones exploded for nine runs in the second inning and cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs to avoid the series sweep in front of 2,702 fans at Haymarket Park Thursday night.

Aharon Eggleston and Brian Joynt each homered in the big second inning, driving Saltdogs starter John James out of the ballgame after 1 1/3 inning.

Sean Potter pitched well in relief, lasting six innings while allowing two runs to save the Lincoln bullpen.

For the Saltdogs offensively, Robby Alcombrack went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Maikel Jova collected a couple of hits and Kevin Rios smashed his second home run of the season – a solo shot to left in the bottom of the fifth.

Reid Santos (2-1) tossed seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits to earn the win. James (2-1) surrendered eight runs on seven hits to take the loss.

With the loss, Lincoln drops to 6-7 on the season. Kansas City improves to 7-6.

The Saltdogs open up a three-game series hosting the Wichita Wingnuts Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Tommy Palica (1-0, 6.00) is scheduled to make his first start against Junior Guerra (1-0, 3.75). Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
