Throughout the history of the Lincoln Saltdogs, the players’ host families have always been the unsung heroes of the team. While big-league ballplayers make big-league bucks, the vast majority of minor-league players are young athletes who need not only a place to stay, but also some helpful guidance as they may be far from home for the first time in their lives. A host family gives a player a home away from home, and allows him to relax and pursue his dream of making it to the major leagues.
Each season, caring households all over Lincoln open their doors to Saltdogs players. Are you interested in becoming a Lincoln Saltdogs host family this year? For each player that you host, you’ll receive two season tickets; many families host two players a season, giving the family four season tickets to use. You’ll also be invited to special host family events throughout the year. Players usually arrive around the first week of May, and depart in the first or second week of September, making the commitment a little over four months. If you’re interested in hosting a Saltdogs player for the upcoming season, please contact Dave Aschwege at (402) 474.BALL (2255), or by email at email@example.com.
